1.  After you’ve locked in your date and location, think about and set a budget for Holiday Music and Entertainment.  Knowing this in advance will help you narrow down your options and ultimately help with the decision making process.

2.  A fun way to plan a Holiday Event is to add a Theme – for instance, a Great Gatsby theme, a 1960′s Hippie theme, or Holidays in the Snowy Mountains theme.  Having a theme allows the music and entertainment options to include ideas other than the traditional Holiday Entertainment in Los Angeles.

3.  Next step is to explore your options.  The easiest way to do this is to work with a reputable company which provides a wide variety of music and entertainment, thereby allowing you the opportunity to explore and consider many options within your budget parameters.  (Essence Entertainment is a good choice.)

5.  Remember – your guests are going to appreciate whatever you provide for them.  Most importantly, they won’t have any idea of what you didn’t choose, so try not to get hung up on the music and entertainment you did not (or could not) hire.

Los Angeles Wedding Ceremony Music

Los Angeles Wedding Ceremony Music

Wedding Ceremony Music Los AngelesChoosing your Los Angeles Wedding Ceremony Music can be challenging and overwhelming.  How do I choose the wedding ceremony music?  How do I choose the wedding ceremony musicians?

The best thing to do with regards to picking out the specific music and the musicians for your wedding ceremony is to listen!  Listen to different styles of music – for instance, Classical, Jazz, Pop, etc.  At the same time, listen to the different types of musicians you can have playing that music.

Wedding Ceremony Music LAThe first decision is whether you want all Classical music selections, or do you want to incorporate more contemporary styles of music, like a current pop song.  Once you’ve narrowed down the style of music you want, it will be easier to choose what to listen to.

There are many traditional Los Angeles Wedding Ceremony Music options in the Classical genre to choose from.  If you want a more traditional ceremony, this is usually the route to go.  Spend time with iTunes or with websites that offer lots of Los Angeles wedding ceremony music examples, like Essence Entertainment’s Musical Ensembles website page, or their YouTube Wedding Music Samples Playlist.  Here you’ll find lots of terrific samples in all styles.

Los Angeles Wedding Ceremony MusicEssence Entertainment’s samples will also let you listen to the different types of musicians you have to choose from – for instance, Solo Harp or Guitar, Harp Ensemble, String Trio or Quartet, Brass Ensemble, etc., etc.  Simply pick the type of musician(s) you like the sound of!  There’s no right or wrong, or more traditional, or any such thing – just pick the instruments you like!

Once you’ve picked the instruments you like best, make a list of the musical selections you like best.

Los Angeles Wedding Ceremony MusicNext thing to do is match the song selection with the particular ceremony formality.  By this I mean you want to pick a song for the Seating of the Mom’s, Bridesmaids Entrance, Bridal Processional, and the Recessional at the very least.  Other formalities you may want to participate in are Candle Lighting, Communion, Gift Presentation, or even a song for the Groomsmen to enter on.

Wedding Ceremony Music LANow you can start to match the song to the formality.  The Bridal Processional can be the traditional ‘Here Comes the Bride’, ‘Trumpet Voluntary’, or even your favorite love song.  Think about whether you want the music to make an introductory statement, or you want a more easy flowing, romantic ambiance.  Then maybe use your Mom’s favorite song for her Seating…or another one of your favorites…

Follow this by picking the Recessional, then the song for the Bridesmaids Entrance.  All the left over songs can be requested for Prelude Music, while Guests are arriving and being seated, if you wish.

Wedding Ceremony Music LAIf you’d like some additional assistance with picking the music and the musicians for your Los Angeles Wedding Ceremony Music, don’t hesitate to contact the experienced Staff at Essence Entertainment – they’d be delighted to assist you with this process!

Ceremony Musicians in Orange County

What types of Ceremony Musicians in Orange County are there to choose from?

For Ceremony Musicians in Orange County there are many options to choose from…

Orange County ceremony musicanThere are two basic things to consider when deciding on your Wedding Ceremony Musicians in Orange County…the instrumentation you want to hear and the actual songs you want played.  Today let’s talk about the different types of instrumentation you have to choose from…

The particular instrumentation you choose will create a certain ambiance and personality for your event, according to Essence Entertainment.  There are many equally lovely options to choose from.  Your decision will be generally based on what you like, the size of your event, and what your budget is.  Here we discuss the traditional options.

ceremony musician orange countyThe most cost-effective option is a Soloist – appropriate for small to medium sized events.  Soloists to choose from are:

  • Solo Guitar
  • Solo Harp
  • Solo Piano / Keyboards
  • Solo Organ
  • Bagpiper

If your Ceremony Site has one, it’s always nice to utilize a Piano or Organ.  But it’s not mandatory, especially if you prefer the sound of a Guitar or a Harp better.  A Solo Artist creates a more intimate atmosphere musically.  For all situations, be sure to pick an instrument that is appropriate for the setting – for instance, if your Ceremony is in the middle of the beach, don’t pick a Harp…it is not possible to get these large, expensive instruments across the sand.  Or if overall volume is a concern, pick a Guitar, as Guitarists generally bring an amplifier.

A Duo is generally one of the above Rhythm Instruments along with a Solo Instrument.  A few examples are:

  • Harp / Violin Duo
  • Harp / Flute Duo
  • Harp / Cello Duo
  • Guitar / Violin Duo
  • Guitar / Flute Duo
  • Guitar / Cello Duo
  • Guitar / Sax Duo
  • Piano / Violin Duo
  • Piano / Trumpet Duo
  • Organ / Trumpet Duo
  • Any Rhythm Instrument with a Vocalist
  • …etc.

Can you see the pattern here?  There are many more similar combinations to consider.  Duos are appropriate for small to medium events.  Something to consider when deciding on your music – if your Ceremony Musicians will also be playing for your Cocktail Hour, you want to make sure they won’t get overwhelmed with conversation noise.  For instance, a Solo Harp can get lost in an outdoor setting of 80 people or more.

A Trio is the next configuration to consider.  Now, here, you can have Three Solo Instruments playing together or a Rhythm Instrument with Two Solo Instruments.  Here are some examples:

  • Harp / Cello / Violin Trio
  • Harp / Cello / Flute Trio
  • Guitar / Cello / Violin Trio
  • Guitar / Cello / Flute Trio
  • Guitar / Upright Bass / Flute&Sax Trio
  • Keyboards / Cello / Flute Trio
  • Organ / Trumpet / Vocal Trio
  • Cello / Viola / Flute Trio
  • Cello / Violin / Violin Trio
  • …etc.

If you plan on having a Vocalist sing at your event, it is best to have a Rhythm Instrument in the mix – the Rhythm Instrument is much better suited to accompanying the Vocalist than an ensemble with Three Solo Instruments.

Next to consider is the Quartet – again, it can be with or without a Rhythm Instrument…

  • Harp / Cello / Viola / Violin Quartet
  • Harp / Cello / Violin / Flute Quartet
  • Guitar / Cello / Violin / Flute Quartet
  • Guitar / Cello / Viola / Violin Quartet
  • Cello / Viola / Violin / Violin Quartet
  • Cello / Viola / Violin / Flute Quartet
  • …etc.

The most popular Quintet configuration is the Brass Quintet.

The best way to decide on which Ensemble is best for you is to listen to them!  An ensemble with a Violin has a different personality than an Ensemble with a Flute.  Guitar is different from a Harp both visually and auditorily.  A Quartet sounds different from a Duo.

Other factors to consider, as mentioned above, are budget, the size of event / number of Guests you’re having, and even the space you have available.  The larger ensembles are of course more appropriate for larger events.

If this is confusing for you, then you need to call  Essence Entertainment to get some professional assistance – they can help you decide which configuration of Ceremony Musicians in Orange County is best for your situation.  However, you still need to LISTEN to the different options and decide which one(s) you like the best – only you know the answer to that!  A good resource is the Essence Entertainment YouTube Playlist – they have many of the options available to listen to.  If you need more options to listen to, work with Essence Entertainment - they can play additional samples for you.

Orange County Show Bands

Orange County Show Bands

Planning a Corporate Event and in need of a terrific Show Band?!  Well, look no further!

ESSENCE ENTERTAINMENT has quite the collection of Orange County Show Bands to choose from.

What exactly is a Show Band?  Generally it is a live performance group which specializes in Corporate Events, Fund Raisers, large Weddings, etc., playing a wide variety of music.  These Bands are usually larger than the typical Band (10 or more musicians), and often include costume changes and choreography.  An excellent example of this is The Red Hot Band.

A Show Band can also be what is referred to as a Theme Band – a Band which specializes in a particular type or genre of music.  A good example of this is The Hodads – they specialize in Beach Music.

An Orange County Show Band generally has multiple singers up front, giving you a variety of talent and vocal styles.  Many of the instrumentalists often sing, as well, providing lead as well as back-up vocals.  The Stellar Show Band is a thrilling example of this:

Country Western music is a favorite of many, and another example of a Theme Band would be the Kelly Rae Country Band:

Another exhilarating Orange County Show Band is The Zippers…one male and four female lead vocalists, horn section, etc.

A Show Band can also simply feature a single, charismatic artist up front – someone who can carry the show primarily by him or herself.  Chuck Wansley is just one of those artists…

Essence Entertainment is proud to represent so many outstanding Show Bands.  If you’d like more information about these Bands or would like to learn about additional Orange County Show Bands, be sure to contact Essence Entertainment at your earliest convenience.  You can also preview Show Bands on their website and on their YouTube Channel.

Here are a few ideas from Essence Entertainment of what you can do for Wedding Ceremony Music – Orange County: Wedding Ceremony Music Orange County

The traditional favorite is still Strings.  There are a few decisions to be made when designing the type of Wedding Ceremony Music Orange County ensemble you’d like to have at your Ceremony – first, do you want a String Trio or a String Quartet; the next decision is whether you want All Strings or an ensemble with Flute.  All options are beautiful – they just have different personalities.  Essence Entertainment says to be sure to listen to the available options to make an informed choice.  Here is a video featuring a String Ensemble with Flute:

Continuing with the string family, next is Harp.  You can have a Solo Harpist, a Duo, a Trio or a Quartet.  For a Duo you can add a Flute, or a Violin, or a Cello.  The Trio usually adds a Cello plus either a Flute or a Violin.  Again, as with the String Ensemble, the Quartet can be All Strings, adding a Cello, Viola and Violin, or it can be with Flute, adding a Cello, Violin and Flute.  As with the String Ensembles, the different options which you can hire through Essence Entertainment are all lovely – listen to them all to get a good idea of what your options are.  Here is a Harp Quartet with Harp, Cello, Violin and Flute:

Guitar is also a lovely instrument for your Wedding Ceremony.  You can have Solo Guitar or an Ensemble.  The Solo Guitar generally plays Classical Music, but it’s also nice if you’d like more of a contemporary or folksy sound.  One option Essence Entertainment really likes with the Guitar is the Duo – you can add a Flute Player who also doubles on Saxophone – thereby, the Guitar/Flute plays Classical Music during the Ceremony, and the the Guitar/Sax plays during the Cocktail Hour, playing a wide variety of Jazz and Contemporary repertoire — it’s like having two groups for the price of one!  A Guitar Trio usually adds a Cello or an Upright Bass (again, that Upright Bass is great for the Jazz repertoire during Cocktails).  A Violin can also be incorporated instead of the Flute option.  Here is a sample of Solo Guitar:

If your church has a Piano and / or an Organ, you can utilize these instruments beautifully for your Wedding Ceremony.  They can be used individually, or you can add another instrument or two, most notably a Trumpet or a Vocalist.

Go to Essence Entertainment website or YouTube Channel to hear many more examples!

Off the beaten path options include:  Steel Drums, Accordion, a Vocal Group, Bagpipes, Mariachis, Hawaiian Ensemble, etc.  Lots of fun ways to make your Wedding Ceremony Music exciting and memorable!

A professional Orange County Wedding Band not only provides a wide variety of Dinner and Dance Music – each Band also has a Band Leader / MC who will make all of the introductions and announcements in an appropriate, professional manner.  This is very important for your formalities, i.e., Grand Entrance, First Dance, Toasts, Cake Cutting, etc.

A Song List of the Band’s repertoire will also be provided by Essence Entertainment for all of its Orange County Dance Bands.  In order for the Band to play your favorite songs, you should mark up the Song List accordingly.  And don’t forget the songs you DON’T want played – drawing a single line through the songs you do not want played is as important as making a check mark next to the songs you do want played.  Essence Entertainment’s website provides Song Lists for your perusal!

Attire is also something you can request.  For most weddings, Tuxedo / Formal Attire is the appropriate attire to request.  However, if you’re looking for a more contemporary look, you might request All Black with Coat & Tie.  For the female vocalists you can request Full Length, Cocktail Length, or even your wedding color.

Your Orange County Wedding Band provided by Essence Entertainment will create your Timeline / Sequence of Events.  Mike Steffens, Owner and Executive Talent Manager, prides himself on helping the Bride and Groom design a Timeline, paying attention to every detail.  This customized document is often then used by other Wedding Vendors on site – a very helpful thing to have!

Wedding Band Orange County

Kelly Rae Country Band

As mentioned earlier, a professional dance Band will most likely play a wide variety of music in order to accommodate the wide variety of ages and tastes in attendance at most weddings.  The only exception to the rule is if a Band has been chosen specifically for the particular theme or type of music it specializes in, for instance, a Country Western Band, a Big Band or a Beach Surfer Band.  Even though this may be the case, the Orange County Wedding Bands provided by Essence Entertainment tend to still play a wide variety of music on top of their specialty music.
